What you’ll de doing in this role:
The Manager has responsibility for a specific area or group of employees within the pharmacy department, and may have hospital and/or department specific scope of leadership. Performs job duties with sensitivity to the patients' diverse cultural backgrounds. The employee maintains competency skills to identify medication safety concerns in the age-related population and institutes additional measures to provide a safe environment with consideration to the developmental changes in the patient population.
- Provides leadership in daily operations and responsible for supervision of staff who are responsible for the medication use process, including accurate and timely review, distribution of medication orders and safe and effective use of pharmacy automation and technology to deliver medications and services to patients.
- Manages the effective allocation of human resources within areas of responsibility which include the control of appropriate staffing mix and levels, and management of productivity based on patient care needs.
- Responsible for hiring, training, corrective action, mentoring and performance of pharmacy staff.
- Responsible for training programs for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, residents, interns, students.
- Ensures staff compliance with hospital policies, procedures and protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Assists leadership in assessing and resolving clinical and operational issues and problems.
- Performs the duties of a pharmacist to support patient care needs.
- Actively participates in departmental performance improvement activities and continually assesses operational and clinical effectiveness of pharmacy services through quality improvement indicators.
- Collaborates with physicians, nursing and professional department leadership on process improvement opportunities and actively participates in medical center wide initiatives on effective and efficient care delivery.
- Participates in the development of the operating and capital budgets; evaluates costs associated with new programs and therapeutic advances. Develops, implements, monitors target drug programs through collaboration with medical staff and pharmacy staff. Monitors department specific financial indicators to achieve budget targets including wage and non-wage expenditures and reimbursement.
- Functions as a positive, creative and effective leader, actively participating in departmental activities to ensure applying all policies fairly and consistently.
- Serves as the Administrator-On-Call (AOC) on a rotating basis and serves as a liaison to patient care units.
- Maintains abreast of all current regulatory standards relevant to pharmacy practice.
- Identifies opportunities and provides recommendations to improve procedures, practices and workflows. Engages team members to implement improvement efforts.
- Leads regular staff meetings to communicate information new policies, practices and procedures. Follows up on staff questions and/or concerns. Identifies items that would benefit from engaging external stakeholders.
- Oversees clinical, operational and regulatory processes within the department for oncology pharmacy services and ensures ensure safe, cost-effective and efficient medication management.
- Responsible for the financial operations of Supply Chain, 340B, and contract management. Responsibilities include ongoing monitoring of income/expense reports with analysis and variance explanations, Drug shortage management, annual pharmacy budget preparations, inventory and PAR level management, contract negotiations, pharmacy inventory control across the enterprise, and maintaining 340B program integrity and compliance.

Qualifications
- Current Pharmacist licensure in the State of California (required).
- BLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required).
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy or related equivalent (required).
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree (preferred).
- Four (4) years relevant Pharmacist experience in area of responsibility (required).
- Two (2) years lead or supervision experience (strongly preferred).
- Inpatient hospital experience (strongly preferred)
- Post Graduate Year PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency (preferred).
- Supply chain experience a plus (strongly preferred).

We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
