What you will be doing:
The Senior Health Equity Analyst/ Data Intelligence Analyst partners with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to translate business and clinical needs into data-driven insights that advance health equity. This role gathers and translates complex business requirements, data definitions, business rules, and data quality standards into actionable analytical solutions, reports, dashboards, and data sets that support health equity measures.
In addition to strong technical and analytical capabilities, this position requires an understanding of how healthcare data can be used to identify, measure, and address disparities in care delivery, access, utilization, quality, and patient outcomes across diverse patient populations. The analyst evaluates data through a health equity lens, helping stakeholders understand not only what the data reveals, but also what those findings may mean for equitable care delivery, organizational performance, and patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will combine advanced analytical thinking, healthcare data expertise, and an understanding of health equity principles to develop meaningful insights, support evidence-based decision-making, and contribute to initiatives that improve healthcare quality and reduce disparities.
- Translates end-user requests into complex business and technical requirements, including data definitions, business rules, and data quality specifications, supporting health equity initiatives.
- Develops specifications for reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions based on business and clinical needs, available data elements, and defined health equity measures and objectives.
- Writes Structured Query Language (SQL) code and queries to extract, transform, validate, and analyze data from internal and external sources, identifying trends, variations, and potential disparities in healthcare delivery and outcomes.
- Analyzes complex business and clinical questions using quantitative and qualitative data, applying critical thinking and healthcare knowledge to identify patterns, gaps, and opportunities for improvement across patient populations.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of report analysis and development, including the ability to triage data requests, clarify stakeholder needs, and translate business questions into meaningful analytical approaches that support health equity priorities.
- Produces sophisticated reports, data sets, dashboards, and analytical deliverables in collaboration with team members, vendors, and Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) stakeholders, communicating findings and actionable insights to clinical, operational, and organizational decision-makers.
- Supports the identification, measurement, and monitoring of health disparities by analyzing relevant patient population data, including appropriate demographic and other available data elements, to evaluate differences in access, utilization, quality, and outcomes.
- Evaluates data quality, completeness, consistency, and appropriate use of patient population data, recognizing how limitations in data collection, classification, and reporting may affect the identification and interpretation of health disparities.
- Partners with clinical and operational stakeholders to understand the implications of analytical findings and support the development of data-informed strategies, performance measures, and improvement opportunities that advance health equity.
- Participates in the re-engineering of operational workflows, as needed, working with end users and business owners to evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and assess the potential impact on patient care and equitable service delivery.
- Contributes to strategic discussions by proactively identifying analytical and technical options, evaluating associated advantages and limitations, and recommending approaches that align with organizational priorities, data intelligence objectives, and health equity goals.
- Communicates analytical findings in a clear, accessible, and actionable manner, helping stakeholders understand the relationship between data insights, identified disparities, and opportunities to improve care delivery and health equity outcomes.
