Job Description

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) is a world-renowned medical center dedicated to advancing maternal and fetal care through innovation, expertise, and compassion. Cedars-Sinai has been named to the Honor Roll for the ninth consecutive year in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals 2024-2025”, tied for #1 in California and Los Angeles. As a leader in the field of specialized medical services, we are proud to announce the launch of a new and transformative Maternal Fetal Treatment Program. We are recruiting an exceptional leader to establish and direct this initiative as our Fetal Surgical Director of the Maternal Fetal Treatment Center.

We are a premier academic, nonprofit health system in the heart of the vibrantly diverse city of Los Angeles, with a rapidly expanding global presence. From gender-affirming care for the L.A. community to stem cell cultivation in space, our work is boundless. Surround yourself with experts who affirm your passions and get the time and resources to pursue them. We provide care to patients in the broader L.A. area – caring for over one million lives each year across 250 locations.

The Fetal Surgical Director of the Maternal Fetal Treatment Center will co-lead the newly established multidisciplinary maternal-fetal treatment program with a Maternal Fetal Medicine Director. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the program’s vision, implement cutting-edge techniques, and lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with extensive experience in fetal surgery and therapeutics and a passion for advancing this critical field in partnership with key collaborators.

The candidate will be a nationally or internationally renowned pediatric surgeon with extensive experience in minimally invasive and open fetal procedures. The candidate will join the faculty of the Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Jim and Eleanor Randall Department of Surgery and participate in general pediatric surgery calls. The majority of the pediatric surgery care is provided at the main campus of Cedars-Sinai, with some limited practice at our affiliate hospitals. The candidate will work directly with the maternal fetal medicine director in the development of this program and join our current collaborative Multidisciplinary High Risk Perinatal Program.

Cedars-Sinai physicians and scientists are leaders in basic, clinical, and translational research, bringing advancements in medicine directly from the laboratory to the bedside. Opportunities for surgeons to collaborate with productive full-time researchers present a unique opportunity for the academically motivated surgeon. We are committed to expanding and strengthening our regional, national, and international reputation for delivering high-value services at all care sites. This mission has been furthered by establishing Cedars-Sinai Health System (CSHS), an expansive regional healthcare system. The system includes three of the finest hospitals in Southern California beyond the flagship Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, totaling more than 2,300 beds with revenues exceeding $7 billion annually. Supporting the Maternal-Fetal Treatment Center, there are currently over 13,000 annual births within the Cedars-Sinai Health System and over 140 NICU beds across the system.

At Cedars-Sinai, we are caretakers and innovators committed to pursuing equitable healthcare. However, health equity is not possible without representation. Our commitment to diversity goes beyond demographics or checking boxes. Our people must reflect the diverse identities, experiences, and geographies of the communities and patients we serve—because that’s what our patients, colleagues, and communities deserve.
