The Smidt Heart Institute is proud to feature a highly respected team of specialists dedicated to advancing cardiovascular care for children. Our Institute encompasses 16 centers and programs focused on diagnosing and treating a wide range of heart and vascular conditions in patients from infancy through adolescence. We combine compassionate care with cutting-edge research, offering young patients access to innovative treatments.
As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with our esteemed faculty and physicians. Together, we provide comprehensive expertise across various specialties, including congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias, and adolescent heart health.
Summary of Essential Duties:
As a Clinical Nurse II you will:
- Perform a variety of direct patient care activities tailored to the unique needs of our pediatric population.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, triage concerns, and provide vital clinical education on pre-operative procedures and disease management.
- Manage anticoagulation therapy and coordinate care within our busy ambulatory cardiac clinic, serving over 20 providers daily.
- Obtain prior authorizations as needed.
- Triage phone inquiries from patients, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers.
- Assess the ability of pediatric and adolescent patients to understand instructions and ensure safety measures are implemented appropriately.
Qualifications:
Education:
- - Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
- - BSN is highly preferred.
License/Certification:
- - Current, unrestricted California RN license required.
- - ACLS and PALS certification from the American Heart Association required.
Experience:
- - A minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience is required.
- - Experience in a pediatric specialty area (procedure center, ambulatory clinic, and/or cardiology)
- - Excellent IV skills are a must.

We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other recognition programs for our employees. The base pay range shown above takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
