Job Description
The Smidt Heart Institute, in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics and Guerin Children’s at Cedars-Sinai, is pleased to announce a national search for a physician-leader to serve as Director of the Guerin Family Congenital Heart Division within the Department of Cardiology. This leadership position offers a rare and exciting opportunity to lead and shape one of the most innovative, collaborative and comprehensive congenital heart programs in the country—caring for patients from fetal diagnosis through adulthood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for the Guerin Family Congenital Heart Division, which integrates both pediatric and adult congenital heart care, ensuring clinical excellence, growth, and innovation across the continuum of care.
- Supervise the Fetal, Pediatric, and Adult Congenital Cardiology sections within the Division, advancing the academic mission across clinical care, research, and education within each section.
- Oversee a multidisciplinary team including experts in fetal cardiology, congenital interventional catheterization and electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease, and congenital cardiac imaging.
- Drive programmatic expansion and enhance collaboration across pediatric and adult services within the Smidt Heart Institute and Guerin Children’s.
- Support and grow robust research initiatives and foster faculty development and mentorship for trainees and junior faculty.
- Engage with institutional leaders in strategic planning, recruitment, and philanthropic development to sustain long-term programmatic success.

The Smidt Heart Institute is widely recognized as a leader in the delivery of cardiovascular care and a pioneer in the development of new treatments and diagnostic tools. Since 2013, Cedars-Sinai Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery was rated in the top ten programs nationally and number one program in California by U.S. News and World Report Top Hospitals. The Department of Cardiology is one of the largest departments within the Cedars-Sinai Health System with over 170 faculty and has world renowned programs in cardiovascular imaging, advanced heart disease, interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, women’s health, hypertension, and regenerative medicine.
In collaboration with Guerin’s Children’s, our experienced team of fetal, pediatric adult and congenital cardiologists along with our congenital cardiac surgeons work in unison to diagnose and treat an extensive variety of congenital and acquired heart disease in children and adults. Within our State-of-the-Art Facilities, children are cared for in spaces specifically designed and staffed with their unique needs in mind. At our institution, the latest technologies are seamlessly combined with a hands-on, “high touch”, accessible approach to care.

Our compensation philosophy:
We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. We also offer a comprehensive faculty benefits package.
Pay Range: $569,318 - $801,362 Estimated Total Cash Compensation
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Medical Degree from an accredited medical school
- Board Certification in Pediatric Cardiology or Adult Congenital Heart Disease
- Unrestricted California license as Physician and/or Surgeon
- Eligible for Medical Center Medical Staff Membership
- Meet requirement for appointments at the rank Professor of Cardiology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center
- Nationally recognized expertise and leadership in congenital heart disease, demonstrated through significant clinical, research, and academic accomplishments.
- A track record of excellence in teaching, patient care and administration
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and mentorship skills.
- A proven ability to lead and inspire large, complex teams.
